Sabato mattina abbiamo visitato l'isola di Öland, una riserva naturale patrimonio dell'UNESCO descritta anche nel celebre romanzo "Il viaggio meraviglioso di Nills Holgersson" di Selma Lagerlöf. Öland è chiamata anche "l'isola del vento" ed infatti nella grande pianura calcarea troviamo ancora i caratterisitici mulini a vento di una volta. Nell'isola ci sono centinaia di specie diverse di uccelli migratori e moltissime orchidee selvatiche che fioriscono in primavera rendendo il paesaggio incantevole! Noi abbiamo visitato il museo ornitologico e il caratterisitico faro: sfervava un vento così forte che ci si poteva inclinare in avanti senza cadere! Nel pomeriggio ha inziato a piovere e così non abbiamo potuto far volare gli aquiloni che avevamo preparato il giorno prima; nei prossimi giorni li porteremo al mare e così sarà bello sperimentare l'elemento aria in tutte le sue forme e possibilità!
On Saturday morning we visited a natural reserve in the island of Öland, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and it is described in the famous novel “The Wonderful Adventures of Nils” by Selma Lagerlöl. Öland is also called “the island of the wind” and indeed we still can find the typical ancient windmills in its wide calcareous plain. Hundreds of different migratory bird species live on the island. Lots of wild orchids bloom in spring creating an enchanting landscape. We visited the ornithological museum and the characteristic lighthouse. The wind was so strong that one could lean forward without falling. It started raining in the afternoon so we couldn’t make our kites fly; one of the next days we will take them to the seaside, thus having the opportunity of experimenting the element of air in all its forms.
På lördag morgon besökte vi ett naturreservat på Öland, som finns med på UNESCO: s världsarvslista och som även beskrivs i den berömda romanen ”Nils Holgerssons underbara resa” av Selma Lagerlöf. Öland kallas också ”vindarnas ö" och faktiskt kan man fortfarande se de typiska gamla väderkvarnarna på de öppna kalkrika slätterna. Hundratals olika flyttfågelarter bor på ön . Massor av vilda orkidéer blommar på våren, vilka skapar ett förtrollande landskap . Vi besökte ornitologiska museet och den karakteristiska fyren. Vinden var så stark att man kunde luta sig framåt utan att falla omkull. Det började regna på eftermiddagen så vi kunde inte flyga våra drakar; en av de närmaste dagarna kommer vi att ta dem till havet, där vi har möjlighet att experimentera med elementet luft i alla dess former .
