50 SIMPLE EVERYDAY GESTURES TO IMPROVE THE WORLD

What can each one of us  do to respect the environment and promote a sustainable development ?

Between 3rd and 10th September 2015 students and teachers from three Waldorf schools of Kalmar, Cittadella and Reggio Emilia will meet in Sweden to discuss and investigate the themes of Art and Green Economy.

In Class VIII, in Waldorf schools, students complete their study of geography and ecology, approaching also delicate environmental issues such as global warming and climatic changes. Confronted with such vast issues, a fourteen-year-old student may experience a sense of powerlessness and lack of confidence towards the future, a feeling he can do nothing to resolve these enormous environmental problems.

Starting from this simple foreword, Italian and Swedish students will work in groups with the aim of discovering at least 50 small everyday gestures that will help improve the world and promote a sustainable development.

The theory lessons will alternate with practical workshops, educational outings, artistic activities based on the theme of the four elements - fire, air, water and fire - connected with the natural habitats and landscapes to be preserved.

At the end of their work the students, together with their teachers, will create a book in English, Swedish and Italian, which will be published and distributed gratuitously in various schools, libraries and other interesting places. The Blog will be updated daily by the students, featuring photos, videos, texts and artwork concerning their activities. In spring the Swedish students will travel to  Italy to complete the work and visit cultural and environmental sites connected with the project.
